70 cl bottle of Licor Beirão / Beirao, liqueur distilled from aromatic plants and seeds. From from Lousã, Portugal. ABV: 22%
Licor Beirão is a very popular liqueur in Portugal, made from a secret recipe of aromatic herbs and medicinal plants. It is a typical and traditional product of Portugal.
It was on the 12 hectares of the Quinta do Meiral estate, in the middle of the Lousa mountain, from which it takes its name, that this liqueur was created in 1929 by a local pharmacist named José Carranca Redondo. The business has always been family-owned.
Beirão liqueur is made from the maceration of aromatic plants such as cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and vanilla in a mixture of grape brandy and sugar syrup. The result is a sweet and aromatic liqueur with notes of honey and citrus.
Tasting notes:
- Color: beautiful amber color.
- Nose: aromas of cinnamon, vanilla, honey, and citrus intertwine to create a fragrant and pleasant bouquet.
- Palate: smooth and silky, with notes of caramel, vanilla, and honey
Serving suggestions:
Beirao liqueur is usually enjoyed as an after-dinner drink, either neat or with ice cubes. It is also an excellent base for cocktails, as it combines well with fruit juices, soft drinks, or liqueurs such as Cointreau or Grand Marnier. Try mixing it with fresh orange juice, lime, or lemonade for a refreshing and delicious drink.
